The Auxiliary Wardrobe is a non-profit charity fanzine dedicated to Stede Bonnet from Our Flag Means Death. From his flamboyant coats to his sword-slashed shirts, we want to celebrate EVERY way that Stede and fashion come together!Whether this be a canon look you're fond of, his job as a luxury fashion designer in an AU, or Stede in a style of clothing you personally love (or lack of clothing… pinups anyone?!) we encourage contributors to make this prompt their own.This zine will be a digital-only PDF and will consist of a SFW edition and a NSFW edition featuring fanart and fanfic. How Can I Participate?When applications open, simply sign up using the form! When the applications close, you will be emailed a link to the zine Discord.
Is there a selection process?No - as the zine is digital, we’re accepting all applications, as long as they are made by the application closing date.
Do I need to have previous zine experience?No! As long as you’re confident you can complete a piece within the timeframe (details here we will accept any level of skill or experience.
Do I have to have/use Discord to be in this zine?Yes, ideally as most communication will be done through Discord. If this is not an option for you then we can figure out a solution using email.
How big will the zine be?The zine will have a SFW & NSFW edition. The page count will be finalised nearer the release date.
Is there a minimum age requirement to apply?You need to be 18+ to apply.
When will the applications close? When will the zine be released?Schedule information is here. Please note this is subject to change.
What will be the rating of the zine?The NSFW zine is 18+. The SFW zine is PG-13.
Can works feature other characters or ships?Yes, as long as Stede is the main focus. We would also love to see non-ship related works too!

Is this zine digital art-only? Can I join if I only do traditional art?As long as you have a reliable way of digitising your work and submitting it with the correct specifications then traditional art is welcome!
Can I submit work such as cosplay, playlists or photomanips?In the interest of keeping the zine a reasonable length, we’re accepting digital art, traditional art and fanfiction only.
Can I do both art and fic?Yes!
Can I do multiple submissions?Yes! You can also submit work for both editions of the zine.
Will there be a limit to the length of the fanfic submissions?Yes. To make sure that the zine page count is reasonable there will be a word limit of 4000 words for fanfic submissions.
Can I collaborate with another contributor?Yes!
Can I do a multiple page comic?Yes!
Can I do an alternate gender presentation?Yes, we encourage works depicting any gender presentation.
What are the requirements for submissions?Details will be provided once you are accepted into the zine.
Can works that have already been created be part of the zine?No, all works must be created for this zine.
Is there content that won’t be accepted in the zine?We want this to be a generally light and friendly zine, so although NSFW submissions are welcome, we won't be accepting anything that involves specific extreme kinks or angst (e.g. character death), or anything that would require an Archive Warning on AO3. If you need further clarification on what this means, send us a message!
